Previously out of print for decades, Hauser & Wirth have published the English language edition of artist Marcel Duchamp's legendary monograph written by art historian Robert Lebel.

‘Marcel Duchamp’ became the go-to book on the artist for many decades following its publication in late 1959. The book was conceived by Duchamp, as was virtually everything else in his life, as a work, an assemblage sculpture masquerading as a book. ‘He did the layout,’ Lebel said, ‘and there was not one comma in it that was not overseen by him.’

The facsimile of the historic edition is presented in a slipcase with a supplement edited by Jean-Jacques Lebel and Association Marcel Duchamp. The supplement features texts and archival material that stitch together the story of Duchamp and Lebel’s close collaboration
