Having recently undergone extensive renovation under the watchful eye of Thomas Heatherwick, a personal friend of Paul, Coal Drops Yard harmoniously combines Victorian architecture with up-to-date design details. Strolling through the area you’ll spot original brick viaducts, cobbled streets and rich ironwork sitting alongside an eclectic mix of modern retailers, restaurants and bars.
The shop itself is designed to reflect this fusion of old meets new, with a series of capsule-like spaces, each with their own distinctive look, feel and character. Whatever you do, don’t miss the men’s suit room, which is decorated with precisely 95,987 individual one Yen coins – a tribute to Paul’s long-standing connection with Japan.

Paul’s Cycling Shop: Open For Bike Business
Cycling has long been close to Paul’s heart. An avid cyclist as a boy, the designer was injured in a crash when he was 17, putting an end to his hope of one day competing as a professional. Though that door closed, another one opened and his love of design, fashion, art and style allowed him to forge a career as one of Britain’s most successful designers.
Cycling remains a key inspiration in our designs, which now include a dedicated cycling collection. King’s Cross is pleased to play host to Paul’s Cycling Shop, a one-stop-shop for both professionals and recreational riders alike, stocked with a selection of Paul Smith cycling clothing and accessories, including jerseys, saddles, tools bottles and caps alongside replica vintage jerseys, memorabilia and cycling-inspired artworks.
